VIDA WELCOMES JODI PICOULT TO ITS ADVISORY BOARD!

March 22, 2016 —VIDA: Women in Literary Arts is honored to welcome acclaimed, bestselling novelist Jodi Picoult to our advisory board!

For years, Picoult has been an outspoken advocate in the media for issues of gender parity in the publishing industry. We are thrilled she will join VIDA in our efforts to amplify women’s voices in the literary world.

As Cate Marvin, Ann Townsend, and Erin Belieu complete their service on VIDA’s Advisory Board, VIDA would like to extend a note of thanks for their efforts over the years.

Picoult will serve on VIDA’s Advisory Board as a mentor and advocate, lending her years of expertise and experience, alongside Jennifer Baumgardner, Soraya Chemaly, Corinne Segal, Cheryl Strayed and Jamia Wilson.

Jodi Picoult is the #1 bestselling author of twenty-six novels including Songs of the Humpback Whale (1992), My Sister’s Keeper (2004), Nineteen Minutes (2007), Sing You Home (2011), Lone Wolf (2012), The Storyteller (2012), Leaving Time (2014), and two Young Adult novels: Between the Lines (2012) and Off the Page (2014). Her new novel, Small Great Things, will be published as a Ballantine Hardcover on October 11, 2016.

Picoult is the recipient of many awards, including the New England Bookseller Award for Fiction, the Alex Awards from the YALSA, a lifetime achievement award for mainstream fiction from the Romance Writers of America, and the NH Literary Award for Outstanding Literary Merit. She holds honorary doctor of letters degrees from Dartmouth College and the University of New Haven.

We welcome Jodi Picoult during our annual fundraising drive, and just a week before the release of our newly expanded, intersectional VIDA Count, which will include data on race, gender, sexuality, and disability.
