What are you reading on the subway or in the waiting room today?
I’m re-reading The Salt Eaters by Toni Cade Bambara.
What book popped for you in 2015?
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Whose words do you return to regularly?
Ntozake Shange, James Baldwin, and Audre Lorde. Like scripture.
Is there an author you can’t wait to read next?
There are so many writers I respect and adore. They aren’t authors yet but they soon will be. Gabriel Ramirez, Charleen McClure, Gia Shakur and Tim Veit Jones are ones to watch. And I can’t wait to read T’ai Freedom Ford’s forthcoming book how to get over.
What are you working on now? What can VIDA fans look forward to from you next?
My first children’s picture book is being published next year by Enchanted Lion Books.
